An antiviral meliacarpin from leaves of Melia azedarach L.
Bioassay guided purification of the ethyl acetate extract of leaves of Melia azedarach led to the isolation of the limonoid 1-cinnamoyl-3,11-dihydroxymeliacarpin, which showed IC50 values of 6 microM and 20 microM for vesicular stomatitis (VSV) and herpes simplex (HSV-1) viruses, respectively. Its structure was established by spectroscopic methods.
متن کاملIn vitro anti-Junin virus activity of a peptide isolated from Melia azedarach L. leaves.
Meliacine, a peptide isolated from leaves of Melia azedarach L. inhibited the multiplication of Junin virus in Vero cells treated with the compound before infection (pre-treatment) or immediately after virus adsorption. Analysis of early events following infection demonstrated that meliacine blocks virus penetration by preventing the uncoating step. The addition of meliacine at different times ...
متن کاملDetermination of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity in leaves from wild Rubus L. species.
Twenty-six different wild blackberry leaf samples were harvested from various localities throughout southeastern Poland. Leaf samples were assessed regarding their phenolic compound profiles and contents by LC/MS QTOF, and their antioxidant activity by ABTS and FRAP. Thirty-three phenolic compounds were detected (15 flavonols, 13 hydroxycinnamic acids, three ellagic acid derivatives and two fla...
متن کاملPotent limonoid insect antifeedant from Melia azedarach.
Systematic fractionation of a fruit extract from Argentine Melia azedarach L., which was monitored by an insect antifeedant bioassay, led to the isolation of meliartenin, a limonoid antifeedant, which existed as a mixture of two interchangeable isomers. At 4 microg/cm2 and 1 microg/cm2, the isomeric mixture was as active as azadirachtin in strongly inhibiting the larval feeding of Epilachna pae...
متن کاملPhenolic compounds with antioxidant activity from Anthemis tinctoria L. (Asteraceae).
From the aerial parts of Anthemis tinctoria L. subsp. tinctoria var. pallida DC. (Asteraceae), one new cyclitol glucoside, conduritol F-1-O-(6'-O-E-p-caffeoyl)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1), has been isolated together with four flavonoids, nicotiflorin (2), isoquercitrin (3), rutin (4) and patulitrin (5). The structures of the isolated compounds were established by means of NMR, MS, and UV spectra...
